Seeds of Compassion

Visiting Seattle to see the Dalai Lama was exciting. What an amazing opportunity to experience the reincarnation of Buddha. Wow. O.k., our seats were up in the nosebleed section, and I think we had to hike up 600 feet to our seats in PP, but it was a gorgeous day, thankfully the warmest of the year, and we had a wonderful view of West Seattle and the Puget Sound.

The energy I experienced when the Dalai Lama walked out onto the field was incredible. The tens of thousands of people there, including His Holiness, surely all experienced some sense of awe at this event. Such love emanated through the crowd. It was difficult to hear and understand what the Dalai Lama was saying, as his accent in combination with the sound system delay made things pretty much unintelligible. However, when he really had a point to make, he certainly got it across. You can view the webcast of the event here: www.seedsofcompassion.org/webcast/index.html

James, Colin, and I had a delightful time.

After the event we went to our hotel at the Seattle Sheraton and went out for a delightfully delicious meal at a restaurant called Palomino. It was yummy. Too bad Colin had been cooped up all day in the car and at the event. Afterward we went swimming, and just laid around in bed, and James went out on the town. A rough sleep that night, but overall a great trip!

Pilgrimage to Seattle

Today's adventures include preparing for our adventure to Seattle to sit in the presence of the Dalai Lama, which will be a challenging bit with a 3-year-old. Bringing the video iPod to entertain said 3-year-old doesn't seem sacrilegious at this point. How does one overcome the no bags/backpacks/containers issue when said 3-year-old still needs diapers, wipes, extra clothes? Sheesh. I suppose we'll manage. These are the hurdles? Sheesh on me.

The Sound Essence Project was able to procure tickets for all the group's members (yay, that's us!) and in connection with Seeds of Compassion www.seedsofcompassion.net (who brought the Dalai Lama to Seattle) has a youth art show entitled What Does Compassion Look Like? that will be displayed on www.whatdoescompassionlooklike.org. Pretty cool. And of course, there is www.soundessenceproject.org, the Sound Essence Project. Check it out! (I'll be back to report more after the event).
